Over the years, I’ve met so many people who have helped shape me ...
Some of those people had a negative impact, while others ended up having much more of a lasting positive impact ...
I’d like to share a snippet from the positive aspect, by including part of a conversation I had with an old friend not too long ago ...
ME: “ yo', meant to write you sooner - congratulations again on fatherhood - thank you for taking me in under your wing back in college and showing me there was so much more out there in life to be interested in and introducing me to music that's helped shape me over the years - overall, just not being afraid to be myself because I watched you always do what you wanted and you never gave a shit ... you always stayed true to who you are, what you believed in, and what you really cared about - so, thank you. "
HIM: “ Wow man. Thank you so much. That means a lot to me. I am glad to have friends that live outside of the box. While it may not appeal to others it is always rewarding for those invested and interested in the path less traveled. I only hope my little girl will keep that going as she grows and finds herself. It's pretty exciting. I’m pretty sure she is going to be an amazing person. I want to see more of my friends in the coming months. So let's chill soon my friend. "
With that being said, never limit yourself or remain closed-off from people - you never know who you will meet that can steer you in a better direction … and remember, never judge unless given a valid reason.
No matter how long someone is in your life, whether a few months or a few years - there is a reason for it, it’s all apart of your path … look to learn and grow from it all, everything …the good and the bad … it is only going to make you a better person.
It’s Monday … another day for the opportunity to do things the right way..
