Meet-Up: #Samoht ... 8.8%

A little back story, I had the pleasure of interviewing Samoht via FaceTime over a year ago after discovering him on Instagram - if you want, you can view that interview HERE.

Simply put, I knew the homie had talent after hearing a few of his songs on Soundcloud, but speaking to him allowed me to get an idea of his character and a little insight on who he is as an artist.  We planned to stay in touch since then and have maintained a banter consisting of jokes, encouragement, music, and other creative dopeness.

When it comes to artists that we discover - as fans of the music - you never know when the opportunity will present itself to actually meet them in person.

It is such a great feeling to have one of your favorite artists become one of your friends.

I'm truly grateful for these moments and experiences.

Here's a little of what we discussed while I was visiting in New York, check it out below:

Spoken Word VI ... #MisunderstoodGenius

I started writing more as of late on a number of different topics and decided to put a little something together for this particular piece.  This blog features quite a few personal experiences embedded within my posts - plus situations and/or occurrences from the lives of others to present a variety of positive messages to my audience.  I now tell people, if you really want to get to know me, then read my blog ; )

Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below and enjoy!

' Untitled '

And someone asked me,
What is it that you're pushing for ...
Well, I'm longing for an attitude with latitude
'Cause I figured I'd be grateful if I got it
Finally, just a little piece of happiness
May as well carry it in my pocket ...
To have it pressed firm and sealed tight,
Right up against that photo she used to have tucked in her locket,
Only to toss the lock, but keep the key,
Cry for help but continue running from me ...
I am a man but not a monster,
A brawler if need be, I'll fight for what is right - for what is good
The truth you will always hear from me
'Cause I never met a good lawyer, trust me ...
All too familiar, she's aware, I know
I have fond memories of broken dishes and furniture in my old foyer ...

I haven't posted one of these in a while, but I felt like writing a little something - leave your thoughts in the comments section and check out the archives tab for the others.

See you next week! : )

What Makes You Happy? ... 6.6%

" We all know quite a number of people who have everything that it would take to be happy, and they are not happy ... because they want something else or they want more of the same.  And we all know people who have lots of misfortune, and they are deeply happy.

They radiate happiness.

Why?  Because they are grateful. "

- David Steindl-Rast

From money to personal belongings to significant others to success ...

... what makes you happy?

Enjoy life and all that it presents with the right frame of mind - don't let things that are insignificant be in control of whether you are happy or unhappy.

Find solace in truth, in beauty, in understanding, in kindness, and in love for those close and those who you feel are worthy along your journey.  Also, please do what you love - don't let your passions get lost in your times of hardships.

What makes me happy?

Well, this blog - the opportunity to inspire, encourage, motivate, and reach others with a positive message - meeting people from all walks of life, all different professions and just witnessing what keeps them going, what keeps them driven and passionate - whether it's artists, educators, entrepreneurs - I am traveling further and further away from my comfort zone ... to experience growth mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

So, what makes you happy and does it for the right reason?

Think about it.
